Our acne treatment program is divided into 3 phases:
During this phase, I will prescribe creams and possibly pills to quickly calm your acne prone skin. Once we have brought the inflammation under control, we can move on to the next stage of treatment. Lasers are also employed to tighten pores and reduce oiliness. I also like to use a combination of peels that reduce the number of blockages on the skin and to kickstart the acne and pimple resolution process. A lot of my patients benefit from our 3D Deep Pore Cleansing treatment. This is very useful in clearing out existing blocked skin pores and blackheads and whiteheads, without the trauma and complications of squeezing.
We will use creams and possibly pills to reduce the stickiness of the comedones, and to effectively clear pores so that new pimples will not form. I will prescribe you a tailored skincare regimen specially for your skin type and condition. This will help to ensure that you do not produce new blockages and pimples. This process may take 2-3 months or even longer, but the results are worth it! I will also counsel you on the type of diet and lifestyle restrictions that you need in order to maximize your recovery from acne.
After we have successfully gotten the new breakouts under control, we can begin to fix the damage done by acne. This is usually done through a process of various treatments, which includes peels, creams and laser to promote scar healing, needle subcision and rarely even pills. We can also work to get rid of acne scars that have been there for many years can be improved through our series of treatments.
Pigmented and purple scars – the first stage of acne healing is purple scars, which sometimes look as bad or worse than the pimples itself. We have a laser treatment which quickly lightens these scars to make them less visible and blend in with your skin colour. I will also prescribe you a special type of skincare that promotes and accelerates the healing of scars to really get rid of the old scars quickly.
Depressed scars – once the scars are lightened, the next stage of healing is reducing the depressions of the scars. This is successfully achieved using the latest generation fractional laser from Korea. The latest machine has much better results with less pain and lower downtime. We used to have older machines in the same generation as Pixel, Mosaic, MixTo and Fraxel Repair. However, our experience is that this new machine gives much better results than our older machine due to more configurable settings and laser beam profile. Patients will see noticeable improvement or results with each treatment, and after a few treatments, the skin becomes much smoother and less “craggy”.
Severe scars – We have patients who have very severe scars caused by cystic acne who never thought that their skin could be improved. We now have a solution for this. Using the Infini Fractional RadioFrequency (FRF) treatment, we are able to see significant results with every treatment. I have successfully used this machine for 3 years now and in over these 3 years, I’ve refined my protocol to improve the results and minimize the downtime and pain while still achieving great results for patients. I always encounter patients who tell me that they have tried many treatments with no or barely any noticeable results. The reason is that their treatment is NOT DEEP ENOUGH. These patients invariably have deep boxcar and ice pick scars that don’t respond to lasers or superficial RF treatments like eTwo, eMatrix etc. To treat deep scars, you need a treatment that can penetrate deeply into the skin’s layers to get rid of the scars.
